To make this dress, you'll need:
- 140 cm wide fabric:
- Short version: 2 meters (2¼y)
- Long version: 2.80 meters (3 1/8y)
- Recommended fabrics: viscose twill, viscose poplin, viscose jacquard, cotton poplin, cotton gauze, chambray, broderie anglaise, linen.
- Iron-on interlining:
- Short version: 1 meter (1 1/8y)
- Long version: 1,30 meter (1 ½y)
- Buttons (diameter: 2 cm (¾") max):
- Short version: 8
- Long version : 10
Finally, for my two versions, I used viscose twill. This is a fluid fabric, but it's thicker than classic viscose poplin. So there's no need to double the dress.
The sizes of the Raphaëlla dress
First of all, the pattern of the Raphaella dress goes from size 34 to size 48. This dress is worn fitted at the bust.
Also, to help you choose your size, you will find below the dimensions of the finished garment:
This pattern was made for a stature of 1m68 (I am 1m62).
Skirt length from the waist: short version: 48 cm (18⅞") / Long version: 77 cm (30¼").
Finally, to help you adapt this dress to your body type you can scale between several sizes or adjust the bust height. For these two blog posts, the patterns show other dresses but the methodology is the same to adapt the pattern of the Raphaelle dress.
